New Outfits

THISISIT.... Me and my husband have two important dates soon.  he has an interview to attend and I have in the same week a night out with the people from work.

We go out today to look for, HIM new trousers and shirt (that fit) and ME, a new dress or outfit that will look trendy-ish with my younger workmates and a bit nightclubby appropriate.

We buy something each, and this afternoon both try on our new outfits.  Matt actually says, "don't come in the bedroom, I am trying on my clothes"  he wants it to be a surprise of how "good" it looks!!!!!.

He eventually comes out of the bedroom in his new trousers and shirt with his choice of tie.  I understand what his physique looks like so will understand that there is a certain level he can achieve.   The trousers for his body look good, the shirt is a bit too white and the tie is wrong.  So suggest he changes the colour of the tie.  After 3-4 ties we decide on the right one and also the right length, which he has to keep adjusting.   Then we discuss maybe changing the colour of the shirt and he then shows me a pale purpley shirt with matching tie.  Looks great,  this is it for the interview.  Lots of pampering and making sure it's the right look.

So excited now as it is my turn.  Historically this doesn't usually tend to be a good experience, but lets try today.   Firstly I put the dress on, the dress has no sleeves, so show him me in the dress on its own first.  "yeah, that looks nice."  I then match it with a short cardigan, just to cover my arms.
"ah, no not really"  says Matt.
Me - "what do you mean, is it the colour, I could buy a white one?"
I go back to look in the mirror.
Me  "do you think it is the colour?"
At this point he is checking out his trousers in the wardrobe,
Me  "DO YOU think it is the colour?, stop doing your trousers and answer me"
I go back into the hallway, to the mirror and he follows.
Me - "Do you think this will be ok for going out"
Matt - "I wouldn't wear it out"
Me  "what do you mean? is it not a night club sort of dress or wear it anywhere, if that is the case then I will take it back"
Matt  "well, no keep it"
Me - "where would I wear it then?"

A good 10 seconds later he had not come up with an answer, 10 seconds you say is not a long time, but I assure you it is, especially when you are waiting for a simple answer.
1,one hundred, 2, one hundred, 3, one hundred, 4, one hundred, 5, one hundred, 6, one hundred, 7, one hundred, 8, one hundred, 9, one hundred, 10, one hundred, .  that is a long time.

My answer to this was, if you really can't think of anywhere I could wear this dress, then it may as well go back in the bag.....

We both don't like the shape of our bodies at the moment, but we have to wear something, so I accept things could look better, but accept how is looks and try to make sure he wears the right things.

We have agreed that I don't ask him for his opinion, as he is not really good at giving it, however, he is the only man in the house that:-

1. I can ask and
2. I would love to have an opinion from.

In the future I have decided to only ask my 2 beautiful girls and hope I get a good, honest answer.  I will still continue to give him my support and opinion on his new clothes, taking into account his build and body and understanding his need to show off his new purchases.....  Am I ranting, I guess I am..... this is it.

note,  after reading this he has now advised me that the band around the dress, draws you attention to  my stomach?????  So maybe not such a good choice, but would have been nice to have this feedback before the blog.

My New Gadget

THiSISIT.....So I haven't been on the blog for a good couple of weeks as have been so busy what with work and family etc.   Oh, who am I kidding, I actually succumbed to an iphone.  Not really my choice.  I was given my husbands phone as he got a new iphone.  The contract ran out on his, so I was entitled to an upgrade 1 hour at least later in the shop, left with a new  smartphone.  alas not an iphone.  but no worries because within less than 24 hours, my husband was back at the shop.  "My wife didn't get on with the phone given, can we change it for the iphone 3"  so yes I know have one.  (oops 3GS apparently this is important.

So my lack of blogging is down to this iphone.  In my previous blog I mentioned about becoming easily addicted to my daughters game on the laptop.  OMG I promise you the iphone is so much more addictive.   I have tried to control myself.  I am looking for the free games and in a couple of weeks have only purchased one game at a mere 69p!!

As a family we have almost overnight become addicted to the laptop, iphone, wii, DS and anything we can get our hands on that is electrical.  This is so not good.

I convince myself that I am not addicted to the iphone, the only games I have are mystery games, grissly manor (good game) and lost city and my 2 children like them.    but have now loaded temple run.  HELP me. I have had conversationswith friends regarding these games and have found that they too are addicted.  What is happening not only to me but them as well!!

The final straw tonight, which has made me go on the laptop, (yes another electrical device, but this is for a good cause).  Matt (husband) and I waiting for a dinner to cook.   Children put to bed.  Both of us in the kitchen near the oven, me leaning on the kitchen sink, Matt on the breakfast bar.  Neither talking to each other, Friday night, glass of win each, great music playing.    The end of the week.

I look at him and say "my god the art of conversation is certainly not dead in this house"  neither of us are speaking to each other.  I am trying to beat my last score of temple run and have just fallen off the edge and Matt I find out later is on Twitter!!!!!

Is this our life for Friday nights.  The dinner is now done.  he has come off of the iphone to dish up, I will be finishing me blog.....  There must be help out there.  do I give up the iphone, or ban myself from the games.  I am not an addict, I am not an addict, I am not an addict...... This is it.

THISISIT... so much has happened, so much is going on,  I have tried to write my blog for the past 1/2 hour and keep deleting it.   I then wondered should I have just left my ramblings to remind me how mental my mind is at the moment.   However, as you now read you will see that I did in fact delete the ramblings and started again.
What was I rambling about, in brief here are the headings.
Verbal diarrhoea
Talking too much, when you meet new people. Why do I do it? is it a bad thing? do they realise what I have done?  Are they exhausted as me.  This happened a couple of days ago when I met a new person and thought yep, thats what I do.  But too my astonishment I realised that I did this again today when I was on an appointment, do I do this everyday??????  how worrying, must make a mental note!!!

Weighwatchers.
Didn't go tonight, was so tired from work.  However, I have not really done anything this week to lose weight.  I have decided I either have to do it properly of give it up and be obese all my life.   I must look at the paperwork and work out what I can eat and how many propoints.  It is easy to work out,  but food is so nice and the wine has been great lately...
book club
Am reading a book called Home for book club.  it is interesting, but a tough one to read.  I will try to finish it before the next meeting, but have realised that after 2 hard slogs of books I need to read some trashy, easy to read rubbish.
However, had a lovely hot bath and read some of the book. That was until my daughter needed the bathroom and came and sat chatting to me. Chatting to my baby girl was a welcome release from the book.

The book before this one was Engleby another tough one.  Maybe this is a reflection on my busy life at present.  Have no energy to read too much.  I did think that I could be more like Grace (the character in the book).  She doesn't seem to have verbal diarrhoea, in fact the opposite,  she just stands back and watches.

This is what I will try to do,  but being a sociable butterfly I find this very difficult to do!   so my final ramblings on my day today is ..... this is it.

The Addict in me

THISISIT. I have never been one for playing computer games, being addicted to my phone or Internet games.  However, watching my daughter on Moshi Monsters.  mm, adopt a monster then feed it, play with, buy it things etc etc. intrigued me.  The game was a children's version of I understand Ugly Birds.  (I think that is the name from my Husbands IPhone).  Anyway she played it very well, but sometimes just couldn't get the angle right.

I then noticed that she was pulling the monster on the catapult back enough, therefore it did not reach its destination.  Frustrated for her, I wanted to have a go to see if I could do.  This is not me, I don't do these things.

Anyway, everytime she missed, I tried to get the laptop to show her, but she was not giving it up this was her challenge and no mother of hers was going to have a go.   Level 8 she was still going good, but not always getting the results she needed.

Eventually after may times of "I could do that", "please can I have a go" "just let me try".  Yes I had become the child and almost an addict.  Eventually she reluctantly handed the laptop over to me.

To her delight and my surprise I did very well, got her onto the higher level and gained her more points than she had ever achieved.  ( points buy food and nice things for the monster).  What a good game and I think she was impressed!!!!

When the game was shut down, she disappeared, only to re-appear with a beautiful card.  I quote words and spellings hers.
Well don Mum!
Dear Mum, this card is for your for 3 resons.
1. a winner
2. a grate helper
3. the best mum ever!
your the best love Lily xxoo

My cup spileth over,  I have achieved grate (great) things in my child's eyes and wonderful place to be if only for a short time.  This is it.

The Sniff

THISISIT....My eldest child who is just 9 years old, doesn't particularly like reading, not like her younger sister who is 7, who loves reading everything.   Tonight she was a serious procrastinator.  oh yes at 9.   Started reading a book which we are now eventually on chapter 2, after 2 weeks and that was with me reading the last page of chapter 1 to get us there.

Anyway after she has compared the pencil drawing pictures in the book and complained that Anneli's (the charaacter) clothes have changed from page to page and flicked through the rest of the book, the questions started.
Lily " Why is the teacher called Miss Pears"
Me  "she's not married"
Lily  Why?
Me "maybe she hasn't met the right man"
Lily "Well do you think she has children?"
Me " I hope not but maybe we will find out if we READ THE BOOK"

Read the book we did, with many more questions like, that doesn't make sense.  Well it wouldn't if you stop reading half way through the sentence,  finish the sentence and then it all becomes clear.
Well, no kidding, after more than 10 minutes we get near to finishing the second page.  Anneli is about to make a sandwich and apparently she spears the peanut butter!   I ask her if that is a word you would use when making a sandwich and she says maybe.  Her sister who is in the room says its spread. Yes spread the peanut butter.  So we all laughed about how would you spear the peanut butter on the bread  and then  -  it happens.
She jumps up off the bed, sniffs down her nose ( a new thing when she is annoyed I think with me) and says this is not funny and storms off.  Apparently I never do this with her sister, only her and they should be treated the same.
I assure you, they are treated the same, after the little strop and a chat we finish the page and then off to bed.  When I kiss her goodnight, it was quite a cool goodnight and a  quick kiss.  As I walked out a little voice said " I love you".  I knew then this had not finished and we would have to have a little chat before finally sleeping.
We met on the stairs, after I threw her newly acquired furry animal up to her.  A chat about the reading, being treated the same and why we laughed,  a nice kiss goodnight and a big I LOVE YOU hug from both of us.  My day completed...... THIS IS IT

Jerry Lee Lewis

THISISIT.....For anyone who has problems with computer technology I can assure you, you are not the only one.  My 73 year old Dad had a record player that transfers records onto a USB stick to then put into his laptop to burn CD's.   mmm  I could  help him to do this.

So far so good, record on the USB stick.  Book updated with the records that are on USB 1 (I did suggest he have a book to show which USB had which records on, so far only have USB stick so have named it number 1) 6 albums in total on the stick.
1. Jerry Lee Lewis
2. Curtis Mayfield
3. Conway Twitty
4. Neil Sedaka
5. Roy Orbison
6. Billy Fury
No one said it was going to be modern music.

We plug in the USB, put in the CD, so far so good.  Windows media player loads and we see the burn and Sync button, looking good, put the CD in, all going well.

Try to drag the music to burn, sync or put in the library and nothing happening, decided to use the help button.  My Dad was sat there patient, pen poised for his instructions on how to do this.  So within the help section we watched a video on how to do the burning.  I then sync'd the music into the library, dragged it to be burned and to our amazement we had burned Jerry Lee Lewis.   Remember this is my Dad's music.....  Then he told me that the 11 minutes we had just burned was side 1 of the album and could we now do side 2.

Side 2 took just as long as I couldn't remember how we had just done this, so had to go back to the help of the video.  How did I get the music to the computer library? This was just turning out to be so bad.  How old am I? I really couldn't remember what I did last time.  30 minutes later, pen still poised by my Dad ready for the instructions, I figure out that I had to sync the music first,  this somehow puts it into the library,  yay.  Then I can drag it to be burned.  fantastic.

CD1 - Jerry Lee Lewis again side 1 and side 2 (Dad writes on with his special pen)
CD2 - Curtis Mayfield together with anothe album Conway Twitty.  (special pen is used)

To my Dad's delight it was done, his book updated and with his CD pen he has written the artist on the CD.  However, as we are both confused as to how we did this no instructions have been written down.  God help us next time.  My parents have over 100 albums and we have just managed to burn 2 of them in 2 hours!!!!!!

Final test of our 2 hour achievement, Dad plays the CD of Jerry Lee Lewis, I know this because it has JERRY LEE LEWIS on the CD and I saw him write it when we had burned it.  To our horror, Curtis Mayfield is heard singing,..... NO this can't be right?  he puts the other CD in with CURTIS MAYFIELD written on the CD and Curtis Mayfield is heard singing, something went wrong!!!!   So if ever you want to burn CD's THIS IS IT.

The First Day

THIS IS IT... here we go, have decided to blog, not sure what about, but maybe just about things that interest me and maybe interest some people out there.  Not sure if I am writing this just to myself or if people will take time to read the blog.

Watched Sherlock Holmes last night excellent programme and so intrigued as to what happened.  As soon as he jumped off of the building I knew he wouldn't be dead but how did he do it.  Firstly he made Watson stand in a specific place where he could see him talking and then see him jump but not see him hit the ground.  Clever.   When Watson then started running to Sherlock the pre-planned bicycle rider knocked him over.  How long was he out for (no-one knows)  this then gave Sherlock chance to get him self sorted.   Did you notice the van with rubbish or some sort of large bags in.  Did Sherlock land in the van then place himself on the ground with fake blood etc etc.

Notice that when Watson eventually made it to Sherlock he grabbed his wrist to feel his pulse and the nurse took his hand away  (he was alive)!!!   who helped.  Molly of course she works in the hospital so could get people to help.   Is Moriarty dead? probably not,  but he is not my problem today.....

hoped you like this for my first go as THIS IS IT.
